This Monday, the Culver City's City Manager will be presenting the proposed 2013-14 City Budget to the city council. The City Charter requires a balanced budget and it will be, I hope that there will not be too many more cuts in the budget to "balance it."

Culver City for many years has called economic development community development by sponsoring events throughout Culver City, mostly in downtown. Along with events they have changed many of the requirements for development to help and hinder different types of business categories. The demise of redevelopment in California is forcing changes in economic development, but most important is opportunity. Are we ready for change the way economic development is evaluated?

I have been reading over the last few months how bad government employees have it, not receiving any pay increases over the last number of years! They do not consider CPI increases a salary increase. There was one article from a local teacher union representative that basically said, "Any extra money in the school district reserves needs to be spent on teacher salaries"!

Last Friday morning the JOBS Report was released at a disappointing 80,000 for the month of March. The blame game is running amuck among our elected officials and the political pundits on the left, on the right, and somewhere in the middle.
